How is it performed?
Volume and contour at the angle of the jaw and the masseter area are assessed. A dense hyaluronic acid filler is placed on the bone or in a deep layer at the jaw angle to define the side contour of the lower face. This differs from masseter botulinum toxin, which aims to reduce the muscle.
Who is it suitable for?
- People with an undefined jaw angle
- Those who are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Those without an active infection at the treatment site
Consultation and preparation
- An examination takes place before treatment, and your expectations, medical history and any previous treatments are discussed.
- Blood thinners, aspirin or certain supplements can increase the risk of bruising; please be sure to mention them.
- Treatment may be postponed if there is active acne, a cold sore or infection in the area.
- It is advisable to schedule treatment a few weeks before an important event rather than in the days just before.
Recovery
Daily life can be resumed immediately. There may be tenderness when chewing for a few days.
Aftercare advice
- Do not massage or press on the treated area on the first day.
- Avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam baths and excessive heat for the first 24–48 hours.
- Cold compresses can be used for mild swelling or bruising.
- If you notice increasing pain, blanching or discolouration in the treated area, contact us without delay.
Possible risks and complications
- Bruising and swelling at the injection site
- Nodules or irregularities
- Asymmetry
- Vascular occlusion (rare)
- Allergic reaction
Frequently asked questions
How does masseter filler differ from masseter botulinum toxin?
Filler adds volume and contour to the area, whereas botulinum toxin reduces the muscle's activity and bulk. Which is appropriate depends on facial structure.
How long does the filler last?
Duration varies with the product, the treated area and the individual's metabolism. Hyaluronic acid fillers are naturally broken down by the body over time.
Who performs the treatment?
All treatments are performed by Op. Dr. Emre Özbey following an examination and assessment.
Can I return to work after treatment?
After most injectable treatments you can return to daily life and work the same day. Mild swelling or bruising may occur, so plan accordingly.
