How is it performed?
The fatty tissue is first infiltrated with a fluid containing a vasoconstrictor and local anaesthetic, then removed by suction with fine cannulas inserted through incisions of a few millimetres. In 360° liposuction the abdomen, flanks and back are treated together. High-definition techniques add more detailed sculpting that follows the natural lines of the muscles.
Who is it suitable for?

- Those with good skin elasticity
- Those with localised fat deposits
Consultation and preparation
- At the first consultation, your expectations, medical history and current medications are discussed in detail.
- Blood tests and any other necessary examinations are carried out before surgery, and an anaesthetist's assessment is obtained.
- Blood thinners, certain herbal products and supplements may need to be stopped for a period beforehand on the physician's advice.
- Smoking impairs wound healing; a break of at least several weeks before and after surgery is recommended.

Frequently asked questions
Is liposuction a weight-loss method?
No. Liposuction is for contouring localised fat that resists diet and exercise; it is considered for people close to their ideal weight.
Does the removed fat come back?
Removed fat cells do not regrow, but the remaining fat cells can enlarge if weight is gained. Keeping a stable weight is important for maintaining the outcome.
Where is the surgery performed?
Operations are performed in licensed hospitals in Istanbul, primarily Liv Hospital Topkapı, with an anaesthetist present.
I am travelling from abroad. How long should I stay in Istanbul?
This depends on the type of surgery and your recovery. After the preliminary assessment, the recommended length of stay is given to you in writing.
